Meet Ana

Founder and Clinical Director

Ana N Gomez Diaz, psychotherapist, entrepreneur, and author, was born in Havana, Cuba. She grew up immersed in Spanish, African, and Creole cultures until she emigrated to Spain in her teen years and completed her high school and university studies.

When she was 3 years old, she began dancing and performing in theaters, showcasing regional dances from Spain, such as the jota aragonesa, the sevillana andaluza, and the muñeira gallega. Her roots on her mother's side are in Asturias, and on her father's, in the Canary Islands.

She used to walk the streets of Havana fantasizing about a better world. Since childhood, she has written poetry and short stories.

Ana graduated in Clinical and Health Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2010. Shortly after, she emigrated to Chicago, where she earned her postgraduate degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2020. That same year, she relocated to Colorado, where she established her private practice, Trauma Analysis PLLC, and worked primarily as a psychotherapist in the area of trauma. Ana is passionate about the human mind. She has always been fascinated by psychological phenomena.

She enjoys philosophizing and discovering new approaches to life and loves nature and cultural diversity. Her way of finding purpose is by learning about new cultures, religions, traditions, and perspectives through her interactions with each of her clients. One of the things that most connects her with joy is having the opportunity to honor the stories, beliefs, and cultures of the people she works with and interacts with daily.

Ana has published a book in Spanish in Madrid, titled Los límites cambiaron mi vida (Boundaries changed my Life), where she shares her experiences learning to set boundaries with herself and others, while exploring the psychological roots of issues that occur in interactions with ourselves and others

Ana enjoys helping clients understand the impact of political and social trauma, as well as deconstructing the deeply held beliefs that influence their everyday decisions and mood.

Ana is not judgmental, and her approach is not to advise clients. Ana believes that each individual already has all the internal resources needed to heal. Her belief system is rooted in the philosophical school of Stoicism, which promotes basing premises for living on virtue, reason, and nature.

Ana feels passionate about working with clients who are critical thinkers, and she often challenges their worldviews by utilizing techniques such as Socratic questioning.

This modality of treatment is supported by extensive research and studies, showcasing its efficacy in improving symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental health diagnoses.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an empirically validated treatment for trauma developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987.

EMDR aims to target the unprocessed and unhealed memories that cause emotional distress. This disturbing material is "stuck," causing negative cognitions, affect, and physical sensations. Once the memory is processed, the nervous system can start the process of natural healing.

Psychodynamics

traumanalysis-page-chevron-6

Feeling negative emotions is normal. People are told that negative emotions are shameful and that they shouldn't experience them. These emotions have an important social and biological role in the human psyche. Psychodynamic theories help us uncover emotions trapped in the unconscious mind.
